    Description

    Antique 'San Jeronimo
' Unframed Mexican Retablo on Tin
Beautiful retablo depicting San Jeronimo holding a crucifix in the right hand and a scourge in the left hand representing contemplation. His left bicep is wrapped in a cilice - a painful device used to distract the wearer from thinking about women. The trumpet of the last judgement is seen in the top right corner and a very neat lion figure is seen on the right side of San Jeronimo. This particular piece was painted by the well respected "Chunky Painter" who is known for his primitive style and beautiful colors.
There are very few flaws with this piece. There are a few surface scratches on the face of the painting, but none that greatly affect the face and hands. He is draped in a vibrant, red robe. There are a couple small nail holes along the top border. This piece is completely original, unrestored, and not repainted.
The dimensions of the piece is approximately 10" x 7".
Please look at all pictures closely to verify condition. I have not made an exhaustive list of features nor flaws, therefore you need to verify for yourself.
