The ProRIB is a compact, self-contained professional grade RIB for all Motorola portable/mobile radios. This brand new product was designed as the next evolution of our very popular (now discontinued) Pocket-RIB.
Direct replacement for all versions of the Motorola RIB (Radio Interface Box): RLN4008/RLN4008A/RLN4008B/RLN4008C/RLN4008D/RLN4008E
Unlike many aftermarket RIB "clones" and "compatible" RIBs, the ProRIB is 100% compatible with the original Motorola RIB, but without the signal level and timing issues that have made the RLN4008 somewhat tempermental in all of its releases. The ProRIB was designed in response to ongoing customer requests for a truly 100% compatible RIB without the hassle and RF-interference issues of external cables, adapters, batteries, power-supplies, etc. The ProRIB is fully Motorola SB9600 bus compliant and uses the latest surface-mount parts and rail-to-rail MosFET technology for a RIB that works with everything, everytime, guaranteed. The entire ProRIB including the integrated lithium battery is the size of a 25-pin serial adapter cable, ideal for both shop and field use. Works with all Motorola RIB-type cables.
No additional cables are required to connect to the computer, just plug the 9-pin connector directly into the PC serial port and connect any standard Motorola RIB-type cable to the 25-pin connector.
A key feature of the ProRIB is the integrated user-replaceable lithium cell backup battery. While most radios provide power to the ProRIB's internal regulated 5 volt power supply through the cable, the internal lithium battery assures 100% compatibility with all Motorola radios and added protection against intermittent cable problems. The batteries have a 10-year shell life and replacements are available everywhere for about if required.
The ProRIB is automatically powered on when connected to a PC, and powers down when disconnected. No mechanical switches or user intervention is required.
