Up for auction are the Writings and Autographs of the Members of the Oscar Peterson Trio, along with the Record Album “Tenderly.”
Back about the mid-1960's, a wonderful young lady named Theda had the great pleasure of attending a concert by
Oscar Peterson
,
Ray Brown
and
Ed Thigpen
(The Oscar Peterson Trio) at the “London House,” 360 North Michigan Avenue at the Bridge, in Chicago, and furthermore had the distinct pleasure of acquiring the autographs from all three!  Whether she purchased this copy of “Tenderly,” at that time, or later, is unknown, but she folded the autographed "oversized" postcard squarely in half, and placed it inside and onto the front cover of the LP, then taped it on the front, so that it wouldn’t get lost.  The good news is, the tape was so old and brittle that it practically fell off on its own and the autographs are now nicely separated from the album cover!  There is yellowing around the edges due to tape residue to what was once an oversized postcard from the "London House."  The "huge" postcard measures 9 3/4 in. X 6 3/4 in., so it is plenty big, if not perfect, for framing!  The album cover too has some residue on it from the old masking tape.
Oscar Peterson was arguably the greatest jazz pianist of all time and his interpretation of the standard “Tenderly,” has become a classic and a must-have for all jazz enthusiasts.  On this particular album, he is joined by Ray Brown on rhythm bass.  Like Peterson, Ray Brown needs no introduction, and his work with Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald comprise some of the greatest jazz recordings in existence.  The liner notes on the album cover do not state the name of the drummer, but it is possibly Ed Thigpen, one of the most renown in the business in those days.  He played extensively with Peterson and Brown as part of the Oscar Peterson Trio.  Sadly, all three have passed away and thus none of their signatures can be acquired in person.
Of course, the value of this package is found in the signatures.  Petersen signed: “To Theda, Sincere Regards.”  Thigpen writes: “Best of Luck.”  Here is an incredible opportunity for someone to acquire a super rare set of autographs from the Oscar Peterson Trio.  The signatures are beautifully signed and legible in blue ink and would look fabulous framed up on someone's den wall or music room.  They are absolutely guaranteed authentic!  The oversized postcard was folded in the middle, so there is a crease plainly visible in my photos.
As for the album itself, it is in VG (very good) condition.  Theda played it a lot and completely enjoyed it for decades before her passing.  The cover has a  six-inch seem split at the top besides the tape residue on the front.  The inner sleeve is original and in great condition with no seem splits.
