    Description

vintage Mexican ceramic pottery terra-cotta plate with a central ‘popotillo’ image. The word popotillo represents straw art from the Spanish name for sacaton grass. These intricate straw mosaics have Pre-Columbian roots but were most popular in the 1930s and 1940s in Mexico City. This piece most likely dates to the period.
